Have you ever wondered how a website works or what are the intricacies that go behind to making a simple website. Well today were going to dive into that subject and find out exactly how a website truly works.
First to understand what a website is its simply a bunch of pages hosted, or stored, on a bunch of platforms called a server that gives access for others to view your site. Still sound confusing? No worries were going to break this down even more.
Let’s go with the analogy of a movie. I like movies so I think this should make it a little fun.
Say you wanted to create a movie. Well a movie is made up of different scenes to create one movie right; a beginning, a middle and an end. Yet, you didn’t know how you could show others your great movie. This is where a movie theatre would come into play. You get your movie distributed to a movie theatre where there able to store, host, and present your movie to an audience. Your movie is now live and able to reach the audience you desire to reach to show your great movie.
So to further breakdown the movie analogy. The scenes that make up your movie, movie being the website, are your web pages. Each scene represents your home page, contact page, or portfolio page to make the site. Once your done making the movie you need somehow to present to others than just yourself. This is where the movie theatre comes in. The theatre is your server/hosting platform.
Funny thing I just noticed when I saw the word server. You can think of a server as serving your website to the world. Lol get it, I thought it was cool.
Anyways, your host is able to store your site, or movie, and give access to an audience. Last everyone who comes to your site can enjoy what you made. Now getting an audience to your site is a whole other topic called SEO just like marketing for any movie, you have to have a way for people to know what you made and want to come see what you made.
but in a nutshell there you have it, the simplest way, I could think of, on how to break down how a website works and what makes one.
