You know growing up I always had trouble with finding a gift for my dad.
Maybe because his birthday was so close to father’s day, so the question to ask was really…
Do I get him 2 gifts or 1.
Luckily my dad knew that I didn’t have much money as a kid so making something for him was good enough for him and he was happy with what I gave him.
I hope.
However, as you get older and make a little bit of money you have a little more cash to dispose of.
Yet the dilemma still remains…
What do I get for him, even though sometimes I think dads are more happier with the fact that they get some recognition unlike mother’s day.
I’m just saying it takes two to raise a family right and even though the mother does play a vital role I still think that dads should get some love too.
That is why I created this list.
Every dad is different and every dad likes to do different things, but with the invention of technology there are things that they can have to help improve their lives or just enjoy a little more.
So if you’re looking for the perfect gift to show your appreciation for dads here is our comprehensive list that we tried to address for the different things dads may enjoy and can also be enjoyed by the family as well.
So let’s get started shall we…
The 44 Tech Gifts That Dads Will Enjoy And Go Bonkers For
1. Fire 7
Beginning our list is the Fire 7 or what is well known by… the amazon kindle.
If your dad is a reader then this is a must for him.
With a 7″ screen, hence the 7 in the name, and an internal storage capacity of 16gb to 32gb that you can choose from. If thats not enough you have the option to add up to 512gb with a micro SD card.
Equipped with Alexa, give the command of what you’re looking for all with the sound of your voice and make it a Netflix and chill night.
2. Nintendo Switch
All dads are not made equal and as a dad sometimes they just need to unwind from a hard days work. Picking up a quick game with the Nintendo switch is just the way to unwind.
The best part about the switch is its changing capability from handheld version to the tv connection. So making it a game night for spending time with the family is a breeze with the switch.
3. Smartwatch
Calling all fitness dads who prioritize their health. Or maybe he’s been thinking of getting his health in check.
Well with the built in heart monitor, creating a healthy lifestyle is a breeze with the Fitbit Versa 2. Of course we couldn’t forget the smart features that comes with it.
Bluetooth enabled you can keep track of how many calories you burned and sync it to your phone as well as control your music and we can’t forget to mention Alexa.
4. Airpods
So I have to admit, I am probably a die hard apple fan, not just because of the quality in their products, but how they create their products to integrate seamlessly with each other.
But the beautiful thing about these airpods are they are wireless. I Like to workout and go for long runs and these bad boys make running a breeze since they are wireless.
I knew these were a winner because as I ran they sat comfortable in my ear and remained there for the whole time. But I understand every ear is not made the same so they do make accessories to help them stay in your ear.
And if working out isn’t really your thing then these are just great for casual wear because of course the wires make it free to move around whether doing work around the house or at the office.
5. 4K TV
Every man should have their own domain whether it be a man cave or his special place. In that special place it usually gonna require a tv screen.
Wheter its for playing games, watching movies, or if you’re creative using it as an external display. And what better display screen to have then a 4K screen. The amazing thing about this is its at an affordable price around $200 bucks
That’s almost as much as what I’m paying for my electric bill, I might as well get me the tv since I’ll only be paying for it once and my power bill recurs monthly.
Anyways if he wants a new TV to add to his man cave then check out the TCL 4K 43in.
6. Soundbar
Do we have any music lovers out there?
Music is like the heart to the soul and having the right speakers to listen to them is almost essential.
What better than of course the kings of sound Bose.
If your gonna do anything with music it should be with bose : ). Add this soundbar to your entertainment system and get the sound that your TV can’t produce on its own.
It also comes with a universal remote so no need getting up to turn it on and off manually.
7. Firestick
If you’re tired of regular cable with commercials then you need a firestick. With a plethora of options and movies to choose from watch whatever you want at anytime.
Think of this device as your portable TV. When going on vacation just carry this along and plug into the TV and go. As long as you have a wifi connection you’re good to go.
8. Apple TV
Ok so I talked about how much I enjoyed apple products before with the airpods and this one is no difference.
If you enjoyed the idea of the firestick then you definitely will enjoy the Apple TV.
Enjoy your favorite movies and shows at the click of your hand. If you want to watch Game of Thrones all over again you can, if you love the Flash like I do, then you can catch up on the latest episodes with Netflix.
Another added bonus with the Apple TV is you can stream directly from your phone.
So if grandma took some pictures of her latest rock climbing trip, go grandma, she can display them easily just by connecting your iPhone to the Apple TV.
9. Echo Dot
If small and compact is his thing then this a great gift to add to the list. I like to think of the Echo Dot as if Alexa was to have a baby she would have the Echo Dot.
Of course as a sibling of Alexa it’s going to have the features and capabilities that she would. Control your music or even your home with simple voice commands.
Have dad put this in his work area and make life a little more cooler and enjoyable.
10. Echo Show
So we can’t have the Alexa family without the Echo show. Looking to face time with your family and friends. Use this tech to make calls with others on skype, echo show or other Alexa featured products.
With a 10″ screen you’re able to even watch movies, videos, and tv shows.
11. Noise Canceling Headphones With Radio
As a dad we know that spending time outdoors is like a right of passage. But working outside whether its yard work or a weekend project who says it can’t be enjoyable.
With these noise canceling headphones shut out the world, and the noise, around you (up to 24db) and focus on the work in front of you.
It’s even equipped with a built in radio so he can listen to the game at the same time never missing a beat.
12. Altec Landing Waterproof Speaker
How far have we come that we can now have wireless, bluetooth waterproof speakers.
With a range of 30 ft this is the perfect companion for any outdoor activity. Going camping, don’t forget your Altec. Summer beach plans? Make it a party without having to worry about water damage.
If you’re wondering about the battery life you have no worries. You have up to 6 hours of juice.
So if you want to spice the environment up without worrying about certain conditions then the Altec is a good fit.
13. Messenger Bag
Now I know this isn’t tech exactly but it is tech related. This bag will give dad the business casual look while also letting him carry his work and laptop in style.
Built tough for dads and the work they do this bag is able to handle the rough moments as it is durable and waterproof.
But if its space they’re looking for, or need, this rugged bag is built with 9 pockets for any needs they may have. Last but not least the straps are removable so its ready for whatever style you’re looking for.
14. Wireless Meat Thermometer
There’s something about grilling that makes you feel like a man and for dads who love the grill this is a cool addition to their collection. A wireless thermometer.
Now they can step away from the grill, as long as its within the range of 300ft, and have the peace of mind of not overcooking the meat and enjoying that succulent juicy tender meat they love so much
15. Smartlight Switch
Are you looking to upgrade your home to a smart home. Maybe you would like the idea especially when you forget to turn off the lights and the switch is across the room. Then you have to get out of your warm cozy and comfortable bed to turn them off.
Not if your phone is next to you.
With just the tap of your phone you can turn the lights off all by the touch of your phone, or even better with the sound of your voice since it is compatible with Alexa.
So you can stay comfortable without having to move. A great weekend project for dads.
16. Portable Label Maker
This one is for the neat freaks out there. Don’t be ashamed I think there should be a place for everything and everything in its place. There’s also nothing wrong with labeling what that thing is in its place.
It’s called organization and a great man is a neat man.
Ok I just made that up, but seriously being organized is never a bad thing. You seen the show hoarders…
I rest my case.
17. Smart Light Strip
This one is just fun for the whole family. Looking to spruce up the kitchen or maybe you want to add some lights on the patio when hosting your next party.
Or maybe give some flare the next time your out grilling at night for those summer night get togethers. The light strips are remote controlled with various colors so easily change colors for the perfect mood.
18. Handheld Bluetooth Device For Portraits
It seems no one nowadays has a camera anymore unless you’re a professional photographer. Its all about the selfie.
But not everybody is able to hold the phone for a good selfie, and selfie sticks may not be your thing.
When I found this attachment I had to put it on the list.
Now you can bring the old school with the new as the attachment gives the look and feel of a traditional camera along with a grip making it easier to take selfies.
But not everyone is about the selfie. If not, it comes with a mini tripod so you can have the picture taken automatically even if there is no one around. If he loves taking pictures then this is the gift for him.
19. Headlamp
I’m not a dad yet but I do know as a man its just something about getting your hands dirty when getting to work on a project. Whether working on the car, building a side project in the backyard, or some form or woodworking construction.
Sometimes you need some light in hard to see or reach places but you still need your hands. Introducing the headlight so you can continue to work without any hinderance of your hands.
Also a good tool to add to your emergency toolkit for those emergency situations. It’s equipped with 6 LEDs and a rechargeable lithium battery so you can work for hours without having to worry about a dead battery.
20. Security Camera
Safety is a concern for any family so why not invest in a security camera for your home. It’s small and discrete so installing it isn’t difficult, but the beautiful thing about this camera is its synced to your smart phone.
Always be aware of what’s going on around you, or watch what the kids are doing outside while you finish some work inside.
There’s even a two way audio if you need to talk to someone outside while you’re inside.
21. Swimmer Heart Rate Monitor
Here’s another cool device. We mentioned earlier the smart watch that is also waterproof, but this one is specifically designed for swimmers.
The strap is made to go around your body/chest so you can monitor your health while you swim.
If you’re looking to track your target health and fitness goals, which swimming is a great way because it’s easier on your joints, you should think about this strap.
22. Sony Noise Canceling Headphones
The world is filled with all kinds of noise, some enjoyable and some annoying. Most importantly…
some distracting.
This is where the Sony noise canceling headphones come into play. Shut out the distractions around you so you can focus on what’s most important in front of you.
A great addition for any working dad, whether he works at home or in the office and needs a way to ignore what’s going on around him and just listen to some music and get work done.
Did we mention it comes with a built in mic so he can continue to answer phone calls without taking them off. There’s even a cool feature called Quick Attention Mode where you can cover the right cup and it will lower the music so you can speak easily if you need to.
23. External Battery Power Bank
Ok this is one just a good necessity for anyone to have on hand.
How many times have you been out and your battery is about to die and you have nowhere to charge up. Get this power bank and be ready for the unexpected.
24. Dual Breakfast Sandwich Maker
Ok again I don’t know how tech related this one is but if tech is to make our life a little easier than this fits in this catergory right?
If not I know men like to eat and especially dads but if cooking isn’t their thing then let this tech take out the hard work.
Create the ultimate deluxe breakfast sandwich for the on the go dads and if you don’t get it for the ease of making amazing breakfast sandwiches then get it just because how delicious it looks (ok I’m sorry that’s just my stomach talking).
But I know I’m putting this on my list.
25. Wireless Charging Pad
Wireless is the rave of the future and it makes life really easy. No more having to stop and plug your phone up with some wires to get a quick charge.
Just drop and go. The great thing about this brand of belkin I can atest is that they are compatible with apple products.
Usually when I buy something that is not specifically apple brand then for any apple product it usually doesn’t work well, but there is something about Belkin.
Oh and don’t worry if you don’t have an apple if your phone is Qi enabled then you can charge with this gift too.
26. Smart light Bulb
Ok another item to help upgrade your house and living space. The smart bulb.
Man it is crazy how far we have come since the first lightbulb was created now we can control lights with our phone!!! I don’t know about you but I still think this is a little crazy and I was born in this technology age.
Anyways you can control your light from anywhere in the room with either your phone or Alexa and even set the lights on a schedule.
So if you want the porch light to come on at a certain time just set it and forget it. It’s as simple as that and you can even spice up the evening with the many colors to choose from.
27. Wireless Charging Stands
Continuing with the idea of wireless capabilities and charging, the Anker charging stands are perfect for dads who like the preference of having their phone sit up as opposed to laying down.
And ladies this is a bundle pack so it can be a secret little gift for yourself, a his and her pack if you will.
28. Nest Thermostat
The Nest is probably one of the best digital wireless thermostats on the market. Tired of having high electric bills or maybe you forgot to turn the ac off when you left for work.
Well with this upgrade you can now control it from your phone or even set it up on a schedule, just like your lights with the smart bulb, so you can control your air flow and even improve your monthly bills.
I know saving money will make dad happy, who wouldn’t be?
29. Wifi Sprinkler Controller
Remember that thing about a man and the outdoors. Well sometimes things just need to be automated and make life a little easier for him.
The sprinkler system is no different.
Control when and where and how much you want to water the yard no matter where you are and what season you’re in.
30. Smart Plug Outlets
Ok to finish off the collection of wireless electricity here are the smart plugs. This is probably the easiest way to get started in setting your house to be smart and wireless if your looking to upgrade.
While some other options require you to actually do some electrical work, not with these plugs.
Just plug your appliance up and control it from your smart phone or Alexa. Schedule your lights, crockpots for dinner and control your home even if you’re away from home.
31. Wifi Beacon Kit
Looking to give a little boost in your home?
Tired of dead spots in certain rooms of the house?
This wifi booster beacon kit will help to give your wifi further range giving you more ease to finish what you need to get done.
32. Docking Station
Every home is filled with at least 9 wireless devices and dad alone could have 4 of them.
Keeping tracking of them or let alone charging them at the same time can mean multiple wires and cluttered spaces.
The goal of technology is to enhance how we do and use things and this docking station is no different. Charge multiple items at the same time and stay organized while doing so.
The cool thing about this docking station though is its magnetic charging connection so you can detach both pieces if you just want to use the phone stand. A cool tech gift for dad’s day.
33. Tile Tags
I personally used these myself when I used to work as a warehouse supervisor. We used these to keep track of the company’s truck keys.
They were great because if they were misplaced somewhere as long as you were in range you could locate the keys using your phone. A couple of years ago we would attach it to the key ring set.
Now they made some upgrades and they created these special ones. You can now stick them to other items as stickers so if dad is known to misplace his stuff then these are perfect for keeping track of his things, or him if he gets lost himself : ).
34. Micro iPhone Lens
Does pops love to take pictures? Growing up my dad used to love taking pictures of me as a baby. I think he took more pictures of me then my mother.
Well with new technology the new camera is the phone and with this micro camera lens attachment you can enhance your photos with a simple clip.
With the 15x macro lens you can zoom in on your favorite shot and marvel at the clarity these lens create.
35. Digital Picture Frame
Following up with pictures you need somewhere to store those amazing pictures you took.
Who needs the traditional photo album when you can have a continuous slideshow of your favorite moments playing right from your phone.
36. Portable Mini Drone
Drones are the latest and coolest thing now. Just be sure you stay within the regulations of any air restrictions.
Drones are great for hobbies or taking amazing aerial shots. Whether he’s gone camping or on his fishing trip. Maybe its vacation time in the mountains and you want to get a beautiful shot from all around you.
Show that off to your friends the next time you get together.
37. Polaroid OneStep 2
Ok I swear this is the last picture related tech on this list, but I had to put this one up.
Do you remember the old school polaroid that printed out the image as soon as you took the picture. Well it’s back.
This one is for the dads who want a taste of nostalgia.
Take great pictures with the redesign slimmer version of the classic polaroid camera that contains a rechargeable lithium battery.
38. Bluetooth Turntable
Continuing with the taste of old school with a new twist. I remember my dad used to have a whole turntable set where he would play his classic reggae music.
If your dad loves vinyls and is looking for a way to play them here’s the way. The cool thing about this turntable is it is equipped with bluetooth.
What this measns is you can play your music through bluetooth speakers…
How cool is that?
That’s what I like, a little old school with the new.
But that’s not all…
If you’re looking to convert your old records to digital formats this bad boy is capable of transferring your classic records to your computer with a usb cord. So now you can really take your music with you wherever you go.
39. Capsule Projector
For the dad’s who love to watch movies this mini projector can make any room into a movie theatre. So now you can watch the avengers like it’s the first time watching it on the big screen.
40. Fingerprint Padlock
Check this out. Fingerprint padlock.
Tired of trying to remember to combination code for your lock. Who needs codes when you can have your fingerprint scanned as if you were James Bond.
This is great for the dads who travel a lot and need to lock their personals.
I forgot its also comes with bluetooth so you can use your phone as well.
41. Bluetooth scale
Health is important no matter what age you are so why not have your scale be digital as well and keep track of your health with your phone.
The goal is to streamline your things.
42. Garmin Forerunner 35 Watch
So we added a smartwatch already but this is a little more simpler.
If dad is a runner and likes to run without a lot of tech then this watch is a simple GPS that shows how far and how fast you ran.
Sometimes low tech is better when you don’t want to worry too much about everything.
43. Skyroam Solis Mobile WiFi Hotspot & Power Bank
For the traveling dad or the dad who is always working and needs wifi then this is great when he needs to stay connected.
This is your personal portable wifi connection.
This is even great if you want to work in a public area like Starbucks but don’t want to use the public wifi, for security reasons, or if there isn’t wifi around to connect to.
44. Digital Measuring Tape
And last but not least we had to finish up with the gift for dads that love to build things in the garage.
This gift is great because you can now know exactly what measurement you need without having to do math that no one learned in school, like fractions, just to know that you need a 1/8 cut.
Who knows what or where a quarter inch is on the measuring tape.
Keep life simple and let the technology be an aid to your work and not a hinderance.
Wow
There you have 44 tech gift items that are great for dads. I hope this helped to generate some ideas for what to give them.
These gifts are great but nothing can beat those special moments with your dad.
