Are you a parent or a mom wondering if they should teach their kids coding?

With all the advancement and growth of technology it’s hard to keep up and know what and where to get started.

Well I have news for you.

There is no better time then now.

There is a famous Chinese proverb that says

"The best time to grow a tree was 20 years ago and the second best time is now."

Why do I mention this quote?

Well when the dot com rush happened, this is the time when the internet just came out and people made money through it like the gold rush, everyone was cashing in and creating websites for their businesses.

Yet no one knew how to make websites except the ones known as coders, or those who code pay the coders to make one.

That meant that coders, or also known as software engineers, software developers, and web developers, these skills became highly valuable.

Developers could earn up to $200,000 dollars working for a company.

And the same is true today as it was 20 years ago.

With new technology there is new coding languages to learn almost everyday.

Which means now is a good time as any to begin learning how to code.

The great thing with technology is that there are so many opportunities within the realm of web development.

Not to mention mobile applications.

Companies are always looking for people who can solve their problems.

If your child knows how to handle problems and can fix them with software...

Life then becomes there’s for the taking and they can create the path they want for themselves.

Are you thinking to yourself...

“How do I teach my kids to be a problem solver”?

Well I think this the perfect time to introduce some of the benefits of why learning and teaching your kids how to code is essential.

The Benefits of Learning To Code:

1. Learn A New Language

One of the greatest benefits of learning how to code is learning a new language. Writing code is as simple and compared to learning a new language.

There are vocabulary words and grammar rules one must follow in order for a computer to understand what your trying to communicate.

Its actually the opposite, learning a language is the benefit of learning to code.

When you learn another language whether it be Spanish, Chinese or coding it does something to your brain.

It helps to develop the brain that last for years.

Studies show that kids who learn and are proficient in two languages or more perform better, have a better attention span and can concentrate and focus better.

It reformats the brain to think in that language, develops thinking skills, and memory abilities.

It’s kinda like your brain gets bigger, so your actually growing your brain.

A smarter brain means you able to think faster and come up with more solutions.

Which leads into my second benefit

2. Become A Problem Solver

The world of coding revolves simply around problem solving and honestly so does business.

All Businesses solve a problem with either a product or a service.

Therefore if you are able to use software, aka code, to help solve a problem for a business then you have now positioned yourself as a highly valuable asset to that company.

But the greatest part about that is if you understand this skill of solving problems and you can use code to do this then you have the ability to create your own business and dictate the terms the way you would like it.

This ability is what drives a lot of people to coding and creating online businesses, they want to live the laptop lifestyle or become a digital nomad (being able to go and do as they please all while making a sustainable income plus more).

This is an option, but knowing how to code helps your ability to finding a high paying job and create a financially secure life for themselves.

3. Gain A 21st Century Skill Set

It’s like these benefits fall into each other and just work together.

So what is the 21st century skill set?

Well if you think about history just a few years ago we were in the Industrial Age where factories and systems were made and the economies were shifting from farming to manufacturing.

This created new ways of work and new power sources along with new technologies.

Basically they systemized the job industry to where they built it so well it was easy for anyone to get a job.

But it became too simple and systematic that now every and everyone is like a commodity.

Now...

With the internet age things have changed AGAIN.

Your specialized skill is now the new currency.

Having specific skills become really valuable for a company and knowing how to code is high up on the list.

Remember the idea I presented earlier about solving a businesses problem.

Well there are many business who have no idea had to handle this new revolution of the internet and are looking for people to fix handle and maintain there new system.

A lot of businesses are used to the old traditional industrial system of doing work but because this new technology is growing so fast it’s hard for companies to keep up and they need those people to fill those positions and handle those problems.

Which leads into the next benefit.

4. Don't Need A College Degree

A few years ago having a degree was essential for any high paying job, but with the introduction of the internet they are useless now.

Companies are now looking for those who can show that they can simply solve their problems and have experience in the field.

This is perfect for a coder because with the specialized skills of coding, your building projects all the time to learn and develop those skills.

As a side note a great project for developing young coders is to look at companies websites and redesigning or revamping it.

Or another step up is to build an app for them that can be useful.

Besides schools are still teaching the traditional form of “computer science” and many kids learn differently and they do not teach on the new technologies that keep changing, I mean who can blame them when it grows so fast.

But the internet age has given many opportunities for different styles for kids to learn and to focus on what they find important.

They can even create their own curriculum on the important technologies relevant to their new coding language.

It’s like creating your own college course but without the expensive cost of tuition.

5. Learn Logic

Now last but certainly not the least is logic.

What is logic you may ask?

Well it’s the ability to make yes and no decision based on certain conditions.

In coding and programming logic plays a major role because the computer can only do whatever you tell it to do.

That means you as the coder need to create the condition in order for the code to function properly.

I love the idea of coding and learning because coding can be applied to real life situations.

It creates the mind to think about every decision that needs to be processed before it’s execution.

This is one of the main reasons the stereotype of coding and programming was only for smart analytical people, also known as nerds or geniuses.

But I’m here to tell you that these skills can be learned and once learned one can see how it is applicable and will certainly change your perspective on how you do any and everything.

Man I don’t know about you but all these benefits sound great on why your kids should learn how to code.

As a grown adult I can confirm that learning how to code as fully transformed the trajectory of my life.

I listed the benefits kids would receive as personal development goals but the other benefits, which I actually touched a little, they have a potential is financially.

Imagine learning a skill that can be transferable for the next 10 to 20 years.

I wish so many times that I started learning how to code years ago.

Even starting 3 years ago would have given me a massive head start in the game.

That is why I am an advocate on teaching kids this massive opportunity so they may get a head start on their life.

If your a parent and your reading this I can’t emphasize enough why you should teach your kids the vital skill of learning how to code.

I wish I could go back in time and tell my mom to put me in a coding class or some form of lessons to learn how to code.

Even if I didn’t see the immediate effects I know they will come into play in my life.

And so I say they same thing to you parents reading this, prepare your children the right way and don’t just rely on the school system to prepare your children because as you know like I do it doesn’t.

That is why I am creating a program to teach kids how to code, and as a sample of what I’m building I wanted to provide a simple printable for $1.
